Qixinglazi National Park

The introduction of Qixinglazi National Park:

Tiger is a carnivorous animal, which has its origin in Asia, and now it falls into some subspecies in different regions due to the different locations of its habitats. Four tiger subspecies inhabit China,of which the Siberian tiger and the South China tiger are the most well-known beasts.

Main scenic spots

The Precious And Rare Siberian Tiger:

qixinglazi national parkThe Siberian tiger,a ferocious and handsome big animal,is the world’s largest living tiger, which has its home in Heilongjiang Province, and it can be found also in Jilin Province, northeast China. Historically,it had been present almost in all the mountainous areas all over the 2 provinces.

This national park,a sanctuary for the tiger, that was considered one of the country’s richest protected areas for tiger, showed a surprised small number of only around 10 tigers in the 1982 survey though it had harbored the largest concentration of tiger some decades ago. The Siberian tiger, therefore,is recognized as one of the world’s rarest animals.

The World Wide Fund For Nature has placed it into the priority of the conservation plan as one of the world’s 10 endangered large animal species. The extreme scarcity and endangered situation of this precious beast had aroused nation-wide concern and led to the establishment of this national park, actually a wildlife refuge, the last haven for such a rare and endangered species,in 1980.The animal now enjoys the state’s priority protection as one of China’s most endangered species.

A  Peculiar  Habitat:

This 33,000-hectare-park lies in the juncture of Huanan,Jixian and Shuanya Mount Counties of Heilongjiang Procince. Qixinglazi is the local dialect referring to the 7 towering peaks that stand in the park and give the park’s name.

The 7 sheer cliffs pierce the sky,and are surrounded by heavily forested-hills,whose floors are carpeted by lush bushes and are interspersed by clear brooks. The park abounds with wild boar, roe deer, red deer, lynx, fox and a great variety of other wild animals, who share the habitat with the tiger and afford a sufficient food supply for the tiger. This litter-traveled national park is a wilderness with very litter humandisturbance that offers a fine and favorite habitat for the tiger.

Scientific  Research:

As one of the world’s rarest and largest precious mammals, the Siberian tiger is highly valuable for the scientific research into the ecology and been driven on the verge of extinction,it is a pressing task to unfold some research programs aiming at the conservation of the existing tigers and their natural habitats, restoration and development of its population on the basis of its habitat protection.

Powerful and effective approaches should be taken to stop various sorts of illegal utilization of tigers for commercial and economic purposes as supplements of the international programs for tiger conservation that are now in progress all over the world. China has strictly prohibited utilization of tiger parts in medicines. The situation for the tigers in China is hopefully taking a turn for the better.
