Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest waterfall in Asia and one of the grandest waterfalls in the world.

Huangguoshu Falls is 74 meters (243 ft) high and 81 meters (266 ft) wide. The upstream Baishui River is flowing towards the bluff and falling into the Rhinoceros Pool at the foot. During the rainy season (May to October), the water rolls down to the Rhinoceros Pool like thousands of horses galloping and shakes the ground and the hill. The thunderous roars of the falls can be heard several kilometers away. The falls are at their most spectacular about four days after heavy rain in this season. The dry season starts from November till April. In the two months of March and April the flow of water can become a trickle.

Further adding to the allure of Huangguoshu Falls is the presence of other 18 cascades both above and below the main falls. Hangguoshu is also the only one provided with naturally perforated waterfall caves. There is a marvelous Water-Curtain Cave located in the back of the waterfall. It is 134 meters long down to the foot of the falls, allowing visitors to not only view, but also hear and touch the waterfall. Being in it, one can see the plunging water like numberless strings of pearls flying down over one's head and also the rainbows in the fine drizzle. It is really a spectacular view.

Day 1: Guiyang City – Jiaxiu Pavilion – Qingyan Ancient Town

Your private guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Guiyang in the morning and begin your sightseeing with a visit to Jiaxiu Pavilion, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Built on a natural rock in the Nanming River, Jiaxiu Pavilion is a historic three-story structure surrounded by water and traditional architecture. Take a leisurely walk around the pavilion and enjoy the scenery along the river while learning about its importance in Guiyang’s history.

After lunch, drive to Qingyan Ancient Town, located in the southern suburbs of Guiyang. It is one of the best-known historic towns in Guizhou and has a history dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

Walk through the old town and explore its traditional stone lanes, ancient gates, temples, residences and pavilions. Many of the historic buildings feature traditional Ming- and Qing-style architectural details, including carved wooden elements and decorative beams. Despite centuries of history, Qingyan retains much of its distinctive historic character.

After sightseeing, return to Guiyang and check in at your hotel.

Overnight: Guiyang

Day 2: Guiyang – Kaili – Qingman – Shiqiao – Boji Miao Villages

After breakfast, your private guide and driver will take you from Guiyang to Kaili, the cultural center of the Miao people in southeastern Guizhou.

Your first stop is Qingman Long-Skirt Miao Village, a traditional Miao settlement built along the slopes of the surrounding mountains. The village is known for the traditional long skirts worn by local Miao women.

Take a walk through the village and, where appropriate, visit local families to learn about their daily life and traditional customs. You will also see one of the most characteristic forms of Miao architecture in the region—the traditional wooden stilt house, known locally as diaojiaolou. Built on the hillsides, these wooden houses create distinctive layers across the mountain landscape.

Continue to Shiqiao Miao Village, famous for its traditional handmade paper. The local paper-making tradition has been passed down through generations, using natural materials and traditional techniques. During your visit, you can observe the paper-making process and learn how local craftspeople transform plant materials into handmade paper.

Afterwards, visit Boji Miao Village, another traditional Long-Skirt Miao community in Danzhai County. Surrounded by green mountains and rural landscapes, the village offers a peaceful setting in which to experience traditional Miao architecture and everyday life.

After the visits, transfer back to Kaili.

Overnight: Kaili

Day 3: Kaili – Jidao Miao Village – Upper Langde Miao Village – Kaili

After breakfast, visit a local market in Kaili to experience the atmosphere of everyday life in southeastern Guizhou. The market is a good place to observe local food, agricultural products, handicrafts and traditional Miao clothing.

Then drive to Jidao Miao Village, located approximately 25 km from Kaili. Jidao is a traditional Long-Skirt Miao village set in a peaceful rural landscape. Local Miao women are known for their traditional long skirts, while the village itself features wooden houses and traditional customs that have been preserved over generations.

Take a leisurely walk through the village and enjoy the surrounding countryside while learning about local Miao culture and daily life.

Continue to Upper Langde Miao Village, located approximately 30 km south of Kaili. Surrounded by green mountains and streams, Langde is known for its traditional wooden stilt houses, winding village paths and distinctive Miao folk culture.

Depending on local arrangements, you may have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Miao folk songs and dances or experience a local welcoming ceremony. The village’s traditional clothing, architecture and folk customs provide an excellent introduction to the cultural heritage of the Miao people.

After the visit, return to Kaili.

Overnight: Kaili

Day 4: Kaili – Guiyang – Departure

After breakfast, your private guide and driver will escort you from Kaili back to Guiyang.

Upon arrival in Guiyang, your 4-day Guizhou Miao culture tour comes to an end. Your guide and driver will assist you with your onward arrangements or transfer to the airport or railway station.

End of the tour.
