In the morning, drive approximately 2 hours to Dazu Rock Carvings, one of China’s most remarkable ancient art treasures and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
The Dazu Rock Carvings represent the peak of Chinese grotto art from the Tang and Song dynasties. In ancient China, carving Buddhist stories, religious beliefs, and local cultural themes into cliffs was an important artistic tradition.
Among the many carving groups in Dazu, the most famous are Baodingshan Rock Carvings and Beishan Rock Carvings. At Baodingshan, you will admire thousands of beautifully preserved Buddhist statues featuring vivid expressions, delicate details, and outstanding artistic techniques. Continue to Beishan to explore another important collection of ancient cliff sculptures.
Return to Chongqing in the afternoon.
Continue your city exploration at Liziba Metro Station, one of Chongqing’s most unique urban attractions. Here you will witness the famous light rail train passing directly through a residential building, a fascinating example of Chongqing’s three-dimensional city design.
Then take the metro to the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing, enjoying the mountain city scenery along the way.
The People’s Great Hall is one of Chongqing’s most iconic landmarks. Completed in 1954, this magnificent building was designed to commemorate China’s victory in the War of Resistance and the establishment of the new government. With its impressive traditional Chinese architectural style, it has been recognized as one of the top ten classic architectures of 20th-century Asia.

In the morning, visit the Chongqing Stilwell Museum (Flying Tigers Memorial), a historic site related to the Second World War. The museum was once used as an important residence and reception place for VIP guests during the War against Fascism, and today it tells the story of the wartime cooperation between China and its allies.
Continue to Hongyadong, Chongqing’s most popular riverside landmark and one of the most photographed places in the city. Built along the mountain slope beside the Jialing River, Hongyadong combines traditional architecture, local culture, restaurants, and spectacular river views.
For lunch, enjoy authentic Chongqing Hot Pot, one of the city’s most famous culinary experiences. Known for its spicy broth, rich flavors, and unique dining style, Chongqing hot pot is a must-try experience for visitors.
In the afternoon, visit Ciqikou Ancient Town, a historic neighborhood with traditional buildings, narrow stone streets, local snacks, and folk culture. Originally famous for porcelain production, Ciqikou offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of old Chongqing.
Your final stop is Eling Park, one of the best viewpoints in Chongqing. Located on a hilltop, the park offers a panoramic bird’s-eye view of the mountain city, Yangtze River, and surrounding urban landscape.
