Day 1: Arrive in Zhangjiajie
Take a direct flight or high-speed train from Changsha to Zhangjiajie today. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, meet your private guide and transfer to your hotel in Zhangjiajie.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the city at your own pace.
Overnight in Zhangjiajie
Day 2: Tianmen Mountain – Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Huangshizhai
After breakfast, head to Tianmen Mountain, one of Zhangjiajie’s most spectacular natural attractions. Take the famous Tianmen Mountain Cableway, which offers breathtaking aerial views of the mountains, valleys and winding mountain roads below. On clear days, you may also see a sea of clouds surrounding the peaks.
Explore the highlights of Tianmen Mountain, including Tianmen Cave, Tianmen Mountain Temple and Tianmen Mountain Square. For an extra thrill, walk along one of the glass skywalks built on the cliffside, where the transparent floor offers dramatic views of the valley far below.
In the afternoon, descend from the mountain by the mountain escalator and transfer to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, part of the UNESCO-listed Wulingyuan Scenic Area.
Take a cable car up to Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village) and walk along the scenic trails to admire the spectacular sandstone pillars and peaks. When weather conditions are favorable, mist and clouds may surround the mountains, creating one of Zhangjiajie’s most memorable landscapes.
Overnight in Wulingyuan
Day 3: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Yuanjiajie – Yangjiajie – Tianzi Mountain
Take the Bailong Sky Elevator, one of the world’s highest outdoor elevators, up to Yuanjiajie. Follow the mountain trails through the scenic area and enjoy panoramic views of the extraordinary rock formations, including the famous Southern Sky Column, which is widely associated with the landscape that inspired the floating mountains in Avatar.
Continue to Yangjiajie, where you can admire another collection of spectacular peaks and cliffs, including the impressive Natural Great Wall.
In the afternoon, explore Tianzi Mountain, known for its dense concentration of distinctive peaks. Enjoy the panoramic mountain scenery from the viewpoints before descending by cable car.
Then visit the Ten-Mile Natural Gallery, a picturesque valley surrounded by towering peaks. You can take the small sightseeing train one way and walk back along the valley, enjoying the changing scenery along the trail.
After the tour, return to your hotel for a well-earned rest.
Overnight in Wulingyuan
Day 4: Zhangjiajie – Furong Town – Fenghuang Ancient Town
Driving distance: approximately 265 km / 4 hours
After breakfast, drive to Fenghuang Ancient Town. En route, stop at Furong Town, a historic Tujia settlement dramatically built around a waterfall. Stroll through the old streets and stone lanes, admire the traditional wooden houses and learn about the local Tujia culture and heritage.
Continue to Fenghuang and arrive in the afternoon.
After checking in, enjoy some free time to explore Fenghuang Ancient Town. In the evening, take a relaxing cruise on the Tuojiang River and admire the traditional
stilt houses, historic buildings and illuminated streets along the waterfront.
Fenghuang is particularly atmospheric after dark, when the old town is beautifully lit and reflected in the river.

Day 5: Fenghuang Ancient Town – South China Great Wall – Departure
Continue exploring Fenghuang in the morning before heading to the South China Great Wall, an impressive historic fortification associated with the Miao communities of western Hunan.
After the visit, transfer back to Zhangjiajie for your onward flight or high-speed train. Alternatively, you may continue by train or other transport to Guilin or your next destination.
