The new name of Zhangjiajie City was adopted in 1994, after the National Forest Park in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in order to give it more prominence and after this site had been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. The National Forest Park had been given the name of Zhangjiajie after the name of a small village located within its bounds, and now a popular tourist attraction within the park.

Day 1: Tianzi Mountain – Sky Field Garden – Yuanjiajie (Lunch)
In the morning, your private guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. After entering the scenic area, take the cable car up to Tianzi Mountain, one of the most spectacular viewing areas in Zhangjiajie.
The name “Tianzi Mountain” means “Son of Heaven Mountain.” According to local history, Xiang Dakun, a Tujia leader who lived during the Ming Dynasty, led an uprising in this area and proclaimed himself “King.” The mountain was later given the name Tianzi Mountain in connection with this history.
Enjoy the panoramic views from the mountain’s scenic viewpoints, where layers of sandstone peaks, deep valleys and unusual rock formations create a dramatic landscape.
Continue to Kongzhong Tianyuan (Sky Field Garden), a small area of cultivated fields perched on a mountain outcrop and surrounded by Zhangjiajie’s characteristic sandstone peaks. The unusual setting makes it an interesting place to appreciate the relationship between the local landscape and traditional agriculture.
Then continue to Yuanjiajie, one of the most famous scenic areas in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Explore highlights such as the Back Garden, Mihun Stage (Enchanting Terrace) and the First Bridge under Heaven, a natural stone bridge spanning two cliffs.
After sightseeing, take the Bailong Sky Elevator down the mountain. Built along the face of a towering cliff, the elevator rises approximately 326 meters and provides spectacular views of the surrounding peaks during the journey.
After the visit, return to your hotel.

Day 2: Tianmen Mountain – Departure (Lunch)
In the morning, head to Tianmen Mountain, one of Zhangjiajie’s most iconic natural attractions.
Tianmen Mountain is famous for Tianmen Cave, a huge natural opening in the mountain created by a geological collapse. The spectacular cave is approximately 131.5 meters high and can be reached by a series of steep steps.
Explore the mountain and enjoy its dramatic scenery, including the spectacular mountain roads winding around the cliffs and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Depending on the route and conditions, you can also experience the mountain’s famous glass skywalk.
After lunch, your guide will transfer you to Zhangjiajie Airport for your onward flight.
