D1 Arrive in Shanghai
Arrive in Shanghai, meet with the guide at Shanghai Pudong/Hongqiao airport, and then head for your hotel for rest. Shanghai, the most prosperous international metropolis in East China, perfectly blends modern skyscraper clusters with time-honored traditional architecture. As the core transportation hub of the Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai boasts convenient access to major cities across China, with high-speed rail and flight networks covering the whole country and major international destinations around the world.
D2 Shanghai City Tour
Your Shanghai exploration starts from the hotel today. In the morning, you will visit Jade Buddha Temple, one of Shanghai’s most famous Buddhist temples with a history of more than 100 years, which houses a precious jade Buddha statue brought from Myanmar. Then you will wander around the Shikumen alleys, the iconic traditional residential architecture of old Shanghai, where you can experience the unique life style of local Shanghainese and the charm of the blending of Chinese and Western cultures.
In the afternoon, you will visit City God Temple and Yuyuan Bazaar, the most representative traditional commercial and cultural block in Shanghai, where you can taste local snacks, browse time-honored shops, and experience the lively atmosphere of old Shanghai. Then you will ascend the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world, where you can overlook the panoramic view of the whole city from the high-altitude observation deck.
In the evening, you will take a leisurely walk along the Bund, enjoying the stunning night view of the Huangpu River and the magnificent colonial-style buildings on one side, as well as the dazzling skyscraper lights of Lujiazui on the other side.
D3 Shanghai - Hangzhou
In the morning, you will take a high-speed train from Shanghai to Hangzhou, which takes about 1 hour. The journey will be pleasant with the beautiful scenery of the Yangtze River Delta along the way.
In the afternoon, you will start your Hangzhou tour with a West Lake cruise, gliding across the rippling water of the West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as “Heaven on Earth”. You will admire the classic lake views including Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, Broken Bridge, and Leifeng Pagoda. Then you will visit Lingyin Temple, one of China’s most ancient and prestigious Buddhist temples, which is nestled in the lush mountains by the West Lake and boasts a history of more than 1,600 years. After that, you will climb the Six Harmonies Pagoda, a magnificent ancient pagoda standing by the Qiantang River, where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the river and the city.
You will stay overnight in Hangzhou.
D4 Hangzhou - Suzhou
In the morning, you will take a bullet train from Hangzhou to Suzhou, which takes about 1.5 hours. Suzhou, known as the “Venice of the East”, is famous for its exquisite classical gardens, winding water towns, and profound cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, you will visit Lingering Garden, one of the four most famous classical gardens in China and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is renowned for its exquisite layout, elegant rockeries, and beautiful pavilions. Then you will visit the Suzhou Silk Museum, where you can learn about the long history of Suzhou’s silk industry, watch the traditional silk weaving process, and appreciate exquisite silk handicrafts.
In the evening, you will take a night tour of Shantang Street, the most famous ancient water street in Suzhou. Wandering along the street lined with red lanterns, you will experience the charming night view of the water town, taste local Suzhou snacks, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the ancient street.
You will stay overnight in Suzhou.
D5 Suzhou - Tongli Ancient Town - Shanghai
After breakfast, you will head to Tongli Ancient Town, one of the most beautiful water towns in the Yangtze River Delta. The town is surrounded by water on all sides, with 15 rivers crisscrossing the town, dividing it into 7 small islands connected by 49 ancient bridges. You will wander along the stone-paved streets, cross the ancient bridges, take a boat ride on the winding rivers, and experience the authentic life style of the water town residents. You can also visit the classic gardens and ancient residences in the town, appreciating the exquisite architecture of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
In the late afternoon, you will return to Shanghai by private car, which takes about 1.5 hours. You will check in to your hotel in Shanghai and have free time to rest or explore the city on your own.
D6 Shanghai Departure
Time flies quickly and your 6-day tour of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou comes to an end today. Your guide will send you to Shanghai Pudong/Hongqiao airport, and you will depart for your next destination with sweet memories of this wonderful trip.
