Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai in the morning and begin your Shanghai sightseeing tour.
Your first stop is the Shanghai Museum, one of China’s leading museums of ancient Chinese art. The museum houses an extensive collection covering a wide range of Chinese cultural treasures, including ancient bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jade, furniture, seals, coins, and other works of art. Explore the exhibition halls and gain a deeper understanding of China’s long history and diverse artistic traditions.
Next, visit Yuyuan Garden, a classical Chinese garden located in the heart of Shanghai’s historic Old City. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, the garden features elegant pavilions, rockeries, ponds, bridges, corridors, and beautifully designed courtyards. Its carefully balanced combination of architecture and natural elements makes it a wonderful example of traditional Jiangnan garden design.
After lunch, drive approximately 50 kilometers from central Shanghai to Zhujiajiao Water Town, one of the best-known ancient water towns near Shanghai. With a history of more than 1,700 years, Zhujiajiao is characterized by canals, stone bridges, traditional houses, narrow lanes, and historic waterways.
Often nicknamed the “Venice of Shanghai,” Zhujiajiao offers a charming glimpse into the traditional lifestyle and architecture of the Jiangnan region. Take a leisurely walk through the old town and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere along its canals.
Return to central Shanghai in the afternoon and finish your sightseeing at The Bund, Shanghai’s iconic waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River.
Stroll along the Bund and admire the remarkable contrast between Shanghai’s historic waterfront architecture and the modern skyline across the river. From here, you can enjoy views of some of Shanghai’s best-known landmarks, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center.
