Kashgar and Karakul Lake Three Days Tour
Kashgar is an oasis city with approximately 350,000 residents in the western part of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region . Old Kashgar has been called the best-preserved example of a traditional Islamic city to be found anywhere in Central Asia. It was the famed trading hub on the Silk Road, on which caravans carrying silk and jade from China crossed with merchants from Central Asia bringing furs and spices. At present, it is estimated to attract more than one million tourist visitors annually.

The Id Kah mosque is the largest mosque in China. Every Friday, it houses nearly 10,000 worshippers and may accommodate up to 20,000.The mosque was built by Saqsiz Mirza in ca. 1442 (although it incorporated older structures dating back to 996) and covers 16,800 square meters.
Karakul Lake is the highest lake of the Pamir plateau, near the junction of the Pamir, Tian Shan and Kunlun mountain ranges. Surrounded by mountains which remain snow-covered throughout the year, the three highest peaks visible from the lake are the Muztagh Ata (7546m), Kongur Tagh (7649m) and Kongur Tiube (7530m). The lake is popular among travellers for its unreal scenery and the clarity of its reflection in the water, whose color ranges from a dark green to azure and light blue. There are two Kirgiz settlements along the shore of Karakul lake, a small number of yurts about 1km east of the bus drop-off point and a village with stone houses located on the western shores

D1 Id Kah Mosque /Tomb of Xiangfei
Today we will first visit Id Kah Mosque, which is also renowned for its long and glorious history. The building complex comprises the Hall of Prayer, the Doctrine-Teaching Hall, the gate tower, a pond and some other auxiliary structures. It is the largest mosque in China with an area of 16,800 square meters, and could hold 10,000 prayers at the same time.
After visiting Id Kah Mosque , we will have our lunch .
In the afternoon , we will visit the Tomb of Xiangfei. Xiangfei (Fragrant Imperial Concubine) is one of the concubines of the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong. It was said that her body send forth the rich delicate fragrance of flower, so called Xiangfei. After her death , her remains were escorted back to Kashgar and were buried in the Apak Hoja Tomb, the tomb of the descendants of an Islamic sage.
Then we will send you to your hotel , and you will have your dinner here . After that you can go back to your room and have a good rest for the trip of tomorrow .

D2 Karakul lake/Uygur village
In the early morning , we will pick you up at your hotel . Then we will drive to Karakul lake (4-5hours). Explore a rural Uyghur village on the way by donkey cart. And visit a small musical instrument workshop. After that , we will continue our trip by country dirt road, you will come across the green fields under bright blue sky, Uygur men and women working under the sun in the fields, other donkey carts driven by Uyghur people . In this way you will catch more folk face pictures which make you a good show off among your friends. We will arrive at the worlds highest alpine lake-Karakul Lake around lunch time. This is a pure world: calm lake reflecting the surrounding snow peaks above 6,000m, among them is MusztaghAta (7546m). Free time and enjoy the sunset. Stay overnight in Tajik yurt or camp.

D3 Karakul Lake/Kashgar
If you like, get up early to picture the sunrise. Enjoy some peaceful time and a free morning walking around the lake. You can also ride a horse to walk around the lake (optional). After lunch, we will hit our way back. Kashgar has remained sheltered from outside influences with locals who are very friendly. Walking through the narrow lanes of this old town evokes a scene from the Arabian Nights. In the afternoon , we will drive back to Kashgar . Then your tour in China is finished . Bon voyage!
