Dazhao Temple – Hohhot's Oldest and Most Revered Tibetan Buddhist Temple
Located in the historic Yuquan District of Hohhot, Dazhao Temple is the city's oldest and most important Tibetan Buddhist (Lamaism) monastery. The Silver Shakyamuni Buddha
The temple's greatest treasure is its spectacular Silver Shakyamuni Buddha, a seated statue standing approximately 3 meters high. Cast from large quantities of pure silver more than 400 years ago, it is one of the largest silver Buddha statues in China and remains the spiritual heart of the monastery.
The Golden Dragon Pillars
Flanking the Silver Buddha are two magnificent golden dragons carved in high relief around the massive wooden pillars of the Main Hall.
