Located on the border between China and Myanmar in western Yunnan Province, Mt. Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve is one of China’s most important biodiversity conservation areas. Covering an area of approximately 405,549 hectares, the reserve is recognized as a global biodiversity hotspot and an essential ecological corridor in Southwest China.
Designated as an A-class nature reserve of international importance by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Gaoligongshan was also included in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Network in 2000.
