Foeverest Everest Shangri-la Yading
Three Sacred Mountains of Daocheng Yading in SichuanLocated in Daocheng County in southwestern Sichuan Province, Daocheng Yading is one of China’s most spectacular high-altitude destinations. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains, alpine meadows, forests, glaciers and brilliantly colored lakes, Yading is often described as a place of extraordinary natural beauty.
The region lies near the border of Sichuan and Yunnan and is deeply influenced by Tibetan culture. Its dramatic landscapes and sacred mountains have made it one of the most fascinating destinations on the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
For many travelers, Daocheng Yading represents a journey into a remote world of snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, Tibetan villages and pristine mountain landscapes.

The Three Sacred Mountains
The spiritual heart of Yading is formed by three magnificent snow-covered peaks known collectively as the Three Sacred Mountains of Yading.
They are:
* Xiannairi – 6,032 meters
* Yangmaiyong – 5,958 meters
* Xianuoduoji – 5,958 meters
These three mountains are considered sacred by local Tibetan communities and are associated with important Buddhist figures.
Xiannairi is identified with Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), the bodhisattva of compassion; Yangmaiyong is associated with Jampayang (Manjushri); and Xianuoduoji is associated with Chenadorje (Vajrapani).
The three peaks rise dramatically above the surrounding valleys and meadows, creating one of the most impressive mountain landscapes in Sichuan.
Local Tibetans have traditionally regarded these mountains as sacred, and pilgrimage around the peaks remains an important cultural tradition.

A Landscape of Extraordinary Beauty
The mountains of Yading are especially impressive because of the remarkable variety of landscapes found within a relatively small area.
Visitors can encounter:
* Snow-covered peaks
* Alpine meadows
* Ancient forests
* Glacial lakes
* Mountain streams
* Waterfalls
* Deep valleys
* Tibetan villages and monasteries
The landscape changes dramatically with altitude. Forests cover the lower valleys, while alpine grasslands and rocky terrain dominate the higher elevations.
In autumn, the surrounding forests turn shades of gold, orange and red, creating a spectacular contrast with the snow-covered peaks.

Yangmaiyong snow peak in Daocheng YadingYading Village
Yading Village is one of the main settlements associated with the scenic area. Situated in a high mountain environment, the village offers visitors an opportunity to experience the traditional Tibetan atmosphere of Daocheng.
Traditional houses, prayer flags, Buddhist symbols and dramatic mountain scenery combine to create a distinctive cultural landscape.
For travelers, staying or spending time around the local villages can provide a deeper understanding of the traditional lifestyle and religious culture of the region.

Chonggu Monastery
Chonggu Monastery is an important Buddhist site within the Yading scenic area.
Set against the backdrop of the sacred snow mountains, the monastery occupies a particularly beautiful location and serves as one of the main starting points for exploring the surrounding valleys.
The combination of the monastery, alpine forests, grasslands and snow peaks creates an iconic Yading landscape.

Luorong Grassland
Luorong Grassland is one of the most beautiful scenic areas in Yading.
The broad alpine meadow is surrounded on three sides by the Three Sacred Mountains. Snow-covered peaks rise dramatically above green grasslands, while streams, forests, lakes and traditional wooden structures add to the scenery.
During the warmer months, wildflowers add splashes of color to the grassland, while herds of livestock can sometimes be seen grazing in the surrounding landscape.
Luorong Grassland is also an important starting point for hikes toward several of Yading’s famous alpine lakes.

Milk Lake
Milk Lake, known locally as Niunai Lake, is one of Yading’s most famous alpine lakes.
The lake sits at a high elevation beneath the surrounding snow mountains. Its distinctive shape and turquoise-blue water make it one of the most photographed landscapes in the reserve.
The contrast between the clear blue-green lake, rocky mountain slopes and snow-covered peaks creates a remarkably peaceful scene.
Reaching Milk Lake requires hiking at high altitude, making the journey physically demanding but rewarding for experienced travelers.

Five Color Lake
Five Color Lake is another spectacular alpine lake in Yading.
Situated at an elevation of around 4,500 meters, the lake is surrounded by rugged mountains and often reflects different shades of blue, green and turquoise depending on sunlight and weather conditions.
Its unusual colors and high-altitude setting make it one of the highlights of a Yading hiking experience.
The combination of Five Color Lake and the surrounding snow peaks provides some of the most dramatic scenery in the entire region.

Haizi Mountain
Located in the wider Daocheng region, Haizi Mountain is famous for its extraordinary concentration of alpine lakes and glacial landforms.
The name Haizi refers to lakes, and the mountain landscape is scattered with numerous high-altitude lakes among rocky terrain and alpine grasslands.
The region is associated with remnants of an ancient glacial landscape formed during the development of the Tibetan Plateau.
The combination of mountains, lakes, rocks and sparse vegetation creates an almost otherworldly environment.
For hikers and photographers, Haizi Mountain offers a striking contrast to the forested valleys and snow peaks of Yading.

Hell Valley
Hell Valley is a rugged mountain valley characterized by unusual rock formations, dense forests, waterfalls and deep ravines.
Clouds and mist frequently move through the valley, creating a mysterious atmosphere. The combination of strange rock formations, rushing water and primitive forest gives the area a dramatic appearance.
The valley also reflects the strong connection between the natural landscape and local Tibetan religious traditions.

Zhihuo Zhalang
Zhihuo Zhalang is regarded by local Tibetans as a sacred mountain gate.
Its name is associated with the idea of removing obstacles, and the area has long held religious significance for local communities.
The Gonggayin River converges in this area before continuing through the surrounding valleys.
According to local tradition, pilgrims visit the site during important Tibetan Buddhist festivals, walking around the sacred rock and participating in traditional rituals.

Mt. Echu
Mt. Echu, meaning “Shining Mountain” in Tibetan, is known for its forests and changing mountain scenery.
In autumn, the vegetation takes on brilliant shades of yellow and red, while the surrounding mountains provide a dramatic backdrop.
From higher viewpoints, visitors can enjoy panoramic views toward the Three Sacred Mountains, making Mt. Echu an excellent place to appreciate the scale of the Daocheng landscape.

Sangdui Valley
Sangdui Valley is known for its open landscapes, clear rivers and traditional Tibetan villages.
Mountains rise on both sides of the valley, while grasslands, livestock and settlements create a harmonious rural landscape.
The valley has long been associated with Tibetan Buddhist culture. Traditional villages, monasteries and pastoral landscapes provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the cultural character of the Kangba Tibetan region.

Pang River and Sela Village
The Pang River–Sela area offers a different side of Daocheng, characterized by forests, rivers, Tibetan villages and pastoral scenery.
Sela Village is particularly attractive in the early morning, when mist can settle over the valley, and at sunset, when the surrounding mountains and forests are illuminated by warm light.
The combination of Tibetan houses, Buddhist structures, rivers and forests creates an authentic rural landscape.

Rubucaka Hot Spring
Located close to Daocheng County town, Rubucaka Hot Spring is a popular place to relax after exploring the surrounding mountains.
The naturally heated spring water reaches temperatures of more than 68°C at its source. Visitors should use designated bathing areas and follow local safety instructions, as natural hot springs can be extremely hot.
The hot spring provides a relaxing contrast to the high-altitude hiking and sightseeing experiences found elsewhere in the Daocheng region.

A Journey into the Sacred Mountains
Daocheng Yading is much more than a scenic mountain destination. Its snow-covered peaks, alpine lakes, forests and grasslands form a landscape deeply connected with Tibetan Buddhist beliefs and local traditions.
From Chonggu Monastery and Luorong Grassland to Milk Lake and Five Color Lake, each part of Yading reveals a different aspect of this extraordinary high-altitude environment.
For travelers seeking dramatic mountain scenery, alpine hiking, Tibetan culture and remote natural landscapes, Daocheng Yading offers an unforgettable journey into one of Sichuan’s most beautiful destinations.
With the Three Sacred Mountains standing above the valleys like guardians, the landscape of Yading combines natural grandeur with spiritual significance, creating a destination that continues to inspire travelers from around the world.
