Duku Highway is the southern section of the No.217 national Highway
connecting the north and south of Xinjiang from Dushanzi to Kuqa city. Because it crosses the Tianshan Mountains, also known as the Tianshan Highway. It starts from Dushanzi District of Karamay City, the oil city of northern Xinjiang in the north, and ends at Kuqa City at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains and the northern edge of the Tarim Basin. Duku Highway has a total length of 561 kilometers. Half of the section is above 2000 meters in sea level, and the highest Tidaman is above 3400 meters.
Duku Highway is a veritable landscape road, from the starting point of Dushanzi Grand Canyon, to the Nalati nature reserve and Bayanbulk grassland along the way, and then to the end of the Kuqa Tianshan mysterious Grand Canyon. Along the Duku Highway, it can pass through Mount Haber, Borkonu, Awal, Narati, Erbin, Halke, Yining and Kuqa Basin. Affected by natural factors such as snow and ice in Tianshan Mountains, traffic control is generally implemented from November to May to June of the next year, and the closure period is up to 8 months. Duku Highway has four seasons in a day, showing the majority of off-road enthusiasts and self-driving tourists the magnificent scenery of "four seasons of one-day tour, ten miles of different days".
