The Nanchang August 1 Uprising Museum was built o­n the site of the Nanchang Uprising Headquarters, a gray five-story building blending both Western and Chinese architectural styles. The headquarters of the New Fourth Army and the residences of Zhou Enlai and Zhu De during the Nanchang Uprising are also in Nanchang. This building used to be a local hotel, but as they used it as the headquarters of the revolutionary army at the time of uprising in arms in 1927, it has been kept as a memorial hall to the revolution with a lot of objects of historical and cultural importance o­n display.

The gold-decorated horizontal tablet of Nanchang August First Uprising Museum written by Chen Yi is hanged in the front of the door of the old site. The second and third floor was developed to four exhibiting rooms and an inscription memorial house showing vividly the glorious history chapters of Nanchang Uprising with the history books, photos, charts, cultural relics and inscriptions of old comrades that participating Nanchang Uprising. The joyous Hall was returned reconstructed according to its former appearance, Room NO 25 that Zhou Enlai worked in, office of Lin Boqu, Room 9-the office of Military Staff Committee, Room NO 10-the room that some leaders of Uprising lived in and so o­n. Besides, a group of Zhou Enlai’s photos are exhibited in the exhibiting hall of the third floor.
