D2 Chengdu / Huanglong / Jiuzhaigou

In the morning, transfer to the railway station and board a high-speed train from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. The journey offers a comfortable and efficient way to travel from the Sichuan Basin toward the spectacular mountain landscapes of northern Sichuan.
Upon arrival, transfer to Huanglong National Park and explore its extraordinary travertine landscape. Take the scenic cable car and local shuttle bus to reach the upper part of the scenic area, then walk among the colorful travertine pools and terraces.
Huanglong is famous for its brilliant turquoise and emerald-colored pools, surrounded by forests, waterfalls, mountain valleys, and snow-capped peaks. The unique mineral-rich landscape has created a series of spectacular natural pools cascading down the mountain.
In the late afternoon, continue to your hotel near Jiuzhaigou Valley.

D3 Jiuzhaigou Valley Excursion

Start early today and travel with your guide to the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley. Board the local sightseeing bus and begin exploring this spectacular national park.
Jiuzhaigou is famous for its crystal-clear lakes, colorful forests, cascading waterfalls, and dramatic mountain scenery. The scenic area is traditionally divided into three main valleys: Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, and Zechawa Valley. Together, they form a spectacular Y-shaped landscape filled with alpine lakes, waterfalls, streams, and pristine forests.
Travel through the different valleys by sightseeing bus, stopping at scenic viewpoints and walking along selected trails to appreciate the changing colors of the lakes and surrounding mountains. Your guide will also introduce the local Tibetan and Qiang culture, legends, and stories associated with the area’s villages and natural landscapes.
In the late afternoon, leave Jiuzhaigou and drive approximately 1.5 hours to Chuanzhusi or Songpan.

D4 Songpan / Chuanzhusi / Chengdu

In the morning, transfer to the railway station and take a high-speed train back to Chengdu.
Upon arrival, begin your Chengdu city tour with a visit to Kuanzhai Alley, a historic neighborhood featuring traditional courtyard houses and architecture dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Today, the area combines historic streets and traditional buildings with teahouses, cafés, restaurants, and shops. Spend approximately one hour exploring the lanes and courtyards and experiencing one of Chengdu’s most photogenic historic neighborhoods.
After lunch, visit Chengdu People’s Park, a popular gathering place where you can experience the city’s famously relaxed lifestyle. Stroll through the gardens, observe local residents enjoying their leisure time, or relax at the historic Heming Teahouse with a cup of traditional Chinese tea.
Continue to Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li in the afternoon. Chunxi Road is one of Chengdu’s best-known commercial streets, offering shopping, local food, restaurants, and a lively urban atmosphere. Nearby Taikoo Li Chengdu combines contemporary shopping and dining with traditional-style architecture and the historic Daci Temple, creating a distinctive contrast between old and new Chengdu.

D5 Chengdu / Giant Panda Base / Dujiangyan

Explore the panda enclosures and learn about these beloved animals, as well as red pandas and other species native to China. The lush surroundings provide a naturalistic environment for observing giant pandas as they eat, rest, and play.
After lunch, drive to Dujiangyan, an ancient irrigation system located near Chengdu. Built more than 2,000 years ago, Dujiangyan remains an impressive example of ancient Chinese hydraulic engineering and continues to play an important role in water management and irrigation.
Explore the historic irrigation system and learn how its ingenious design helped control flooding while providing water for agriculture across the Chengdu Plain.
In the late afternoon, return to Chengdu.

D6 Chengdu / Huanglongxi Ancient Town / Leshan Giant Buddha / Mount Emei
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Driving: approximately 2.5–3 hours
In the morning, travel to Huanglongxi Ancient Town, a historic riverside settlement near Chengdu. The town is known for its well-preserved traditional architecture, ancient streets, stone bridges, temples, and distinctive local culture. Take a leisurely walk through the old streets and experience the atmosphere of a traditional Sichuan market town.
Continue by road to Leshan, approximately 1.5 hours away.
Visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, a monumental seated statue of Maitreya carved into the red sandstone cliffs overlooking the confluence of three rivers. At 71 meters high, it is one of the world’s most impressive ancient stone Buddha statues. The surrounding cliffs also contain additional Buddhist statues and carvings, reflecting the region’s long history of Buddhist culture.
After the visit, continue to Mount Emei and check in to your hotel.

D7 Mount Emei / Chengdu

Rise early and begin your Mount Emei pilgrimage experience. Mount Emei is one of China’s most sacred Buddhist mountains and is renowned for its dramatic mountain scenery, ancient temples, rich biodiversity, and long Buddhist tradition.
Take the local sightseeing bus up the mountain toward Leidongping. From the parking area, walk for approximately 30 minutes along the mountain trail to the cable car station. Along the trail, you may encounter wild monkeys, which are a well-known feature of Mount Emei.
Take the cable car to the Golden Summit, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. On a clear day, it may be possible to see far across the Sichuan Basin and, under exceptionally favorable conditions, toward the distant peaks of the Daxue Mountains.
The Golden Summit is also home to the impressive Samantabhadra statue, a landmark of Mount Emei and an important symbol of the mountain’s Buddhist heritage.
In the afternoon, descend the mountain and return to Chengdu.
On your final evening, enjoy a Sichuan hot pot dinner and experience one of the region’s most famous culinary traditions.

Your 8-day Sichuan journey comes to an end today. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some free time in Chengdu before your private guide transfers you to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport or Chengdu Tianfu International Airport for your onward flight.
Depart Chengdu with wonderful memories of Sichuan’s giant pandas, spectacular mountain landscapes, ancient Buddhist heritage, traditional culture, and famous cuisine.
