The Traditional Crafting Process

Among these steps, engraving the wooden blocks is the most challenging part. A single wooden block usually takes about five or six days to complete. During the printing process, craftsmen first apply black ink to a carved wooden block, place rice paper over it, and rub the paper to create the basic outline. After drying, the process is repeated with additional wooden blocks for each different color.
