Binggou Danxia in Zhangye
Binggou Danxia is located in Kangle Township, Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, covering a total area of 300 square kilometers, with a core scenic area of 120 square kilometers, divided into the Xiaoxitian (Little Western Heaven) and Daxitian (Greater Western Heaven) scenic areas. The scenic area is 45 kilometers east of Zhangye City and 41 kilometers west of Sunan County, with an altitude ranging from 1500 to 2550 meters and a continental climate.
This scenic area is an important part of the Zhangye Danxia National Geo park. It features the most typical Danxia landforms in China's arid regions, developed from Jurassic to Tertiary red sandstone strata, weathered and eroded to form Danxia cliffs, stone walls, stone pillars, and other landforms. Its window-lattice palace-style Danxia landform has been named a typical landform by the geological community and has been rated as "China's No. 1 window-lattice palace-style Danxia landform". It has figurative landscapes such as the Divine Camel Welcoming Guests, the Phantom of the Louvre, and the Root of the Earth. It has also been rated as one of the "Seven Most Beautiful Danxia Landforms in China" and one of the "Top Ten Amazing Geographical Wonders in the World", and is known as "The First Wonder of the World".
