Beihai Park
Beihai Park was opened to the public in 1925 and in 1961 he was one of the first important cultural sites under protection by the State Council. The park occupies an area of 69 hectares with a lake of 39 hectares. In the garden, pavilions and towers in the middle of the beautiful landscape of lakes and hills, meadows and trees are surrounded. To perpetuate the tradition of garden design of the old China Beihai is a gem of garden design.
With the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park in the east, Zhong Nan Hai (Central and South Sea) south, Beihai (North Sea) Park is one of the oldest, largest and best preserved ancient imperial gardens in China in downtown Beijing. This ancient garden, with more than 1000 years of history, is not only a classic combination of the size of North Garden and refined gardens in southern China, but also a perfect integration of magnificent palaces and solemn religious constructions.
Beihai Park covers an area of approximately 0.71 square kilometers (about 0.27 square miles), more than half of them taken at the lake. In the middle of the lake and the central axis of the entire park is the Jade Islet flowered, the imposing White Dagoba emblematic of Beihai Park is crowned. In addition to the Jade Islet flowers, the park has four scenic areas: the area of the East Coast, the North Shore, the botanical garden and the circular city near the north gate. There are many beautiful and famous places that you should not miss when touring the Beihai Park.
White Dagoba

The interior retains Dagoba Buddhist scriptures, the bowl’s mantle and alms of the monk and two pieces of Sarira. As the White Dagoba is the highest point in the Beihai Park, he served as a lookout with magnificent views across the park.
Front of the White Dagoba Temple is the White Dagoba. There are several other buildings and rooms to visit, if you could have enough time. These include Zhengjue Hall, the Bell and Drum Towers, the tables of stone “Chunyin Qiongdao” (as defined in the beautiful scenery of the Jade Islet flowers in spring, written by Emperor Qianlong Dynasty Qing), etc., all scattered on the slope of the Islet Qionghua.
Qionghua Island and Taiye Lake
BeiHai park covers an area of more than 69 hectares, with a lake called the Taiye Lake that covers more than half of the entire Beihai park.
In the center of the Beihai park is an island called Qionghua island with a point 32 m high.
In North of the Beihai Park has a large pool called the Taiye Lake instructed the other two pools. Therefore, the park is also called Beihai Taiye, meaning North Sea.
Nine-Dragon Wall at Beihai Park
One of landscape in the Beihai Park is the Nine-Dragon Wall at north of the Five-Dragon Pavilion. The Nine Dragon Wall was built in 1402 and It is one of the three famous dragon walls in China. The dragon wall paint is made of bricks of seven colors. Nine complete dragons playing in the clouds decorate the two sides of the wall.
