Saihanba National Forest Park
Saihanba National Forest Park landscape in ChengdeLocated in Chengde, Hebei Province, Saihanba National Forest Park is one of the most famous forest and grassland destinations in northern China. Once a royal hunting ground of the Qing Dynasty and part of the historic Mulan Paddock, Saihanba is now recognized as an important ecological area featuring vast forests, open grasslands and beautiful plateau lakes.
The name Saihanba comes from a combination of Mongolian and Chinese words, meaning “beautiful high mountain.” With an average elevation of about 1,400 meters, the park is famous for its unique combination of forest landscapes, alpine grasslands and clear plateau lakes.
Located in the northern part of Chengde, near the Inner Mongolia border, Saihanba offers visitors spectacular scenery, fresh air and a peaceful natural environment throughout the year.

A Former Royal Hunting Ground
Saihanba was historically part of the Mulan Paddock, a large imperial hunting area used by Qing Dynasty emperors and royal families.
Today, the area preserves its natural beauty while becoming a popular destination for eco-tourism, photography, outdoor activities and summer retreats.
The park contains vast forests, rolling grasslands and more than ten plateau lakes, creating a diverse landscape that combines the beauty of northern forests and Mongolian grasslands.

A Natural Paradise of Forests and Grasslands
Saihanba National Forest Park is famous for its well-preserved ecosystem and rich biodiversity. The region is home to more than 700 species of plants and animals.
The landscape features:
* Endless grasslands

Summer: A Cool Forest Retreat
Summer is one of the best seasons to visit Saihanba. The mountains and grasslands are covered with different shades of green, while forests stretch across the rolling landscape.
Wildflowers bloom across the grasslands, adding bright colors to the scenery. With average summer temperatures generally below 25°C, Saihanba provides a refreshing escape from the heat of northern cities.

Autumn: A Photographer’s Paradise
Autumn transforms Saihanba into a spectacular natural painting.
The forests become a colorful combination of:
* Fiery red maple leaves
* Golden birch forests
* Deep green pine trees
The mixture of different tree species creates a magnificent autumn landscape, making Saihanba one of the best destinations in China for autumn photography.

Winter: A Snow-Covered Wonderland
In winter, Saihanba takes on a completely different appearance. Snow covers the mountains and forests, creating a peaceful white world.
Frozen lakes, snow-covered branches and quiet forests offer visitors a unique winter experience. Fresh snowfall in the early morning creates an ideal setting for photography, snow activities and enjoying the beauty of northern China’s winter landscape.

An Ideal Nature Escape Near Beijing
With its forests, grasslands, lakes and seasonal beauty, Saihanba National Forest Park is an ideal destination for travelers seeking outdoor adventures and natural scenery.
Whether visiting for summer relaxation, autumn photography or winter snow experiences, Saihanba offers unforgettable landscapes and a chance to discover the ecological beauty of northern China.
