Jingjiang Prince City
Jingjiang Princes' City in Guangxi provinceLocated in the center of Guilin, Guangxi, Jingjiang Princes’ City (also known as Jingjiang Princes’ Palace) is one of the city’s most important historical and cultural attractions. Built during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), this ancient royal residence offers visitors a glimpse into China’s imperial history, traditional architecture, and cultural heritage.
The construction of Jingjiang Princes’ City began in 1372 and was completed in 1392 by Zhu Shouqian, the first Jingjiang Prince and the great-nephew of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty. Over the following 257 years, a total of 14 Jingjiang princes from 12 generations lived in the palace until the end of the Ming Dynasty.

History of Jingjiang Princes’ City
Built around the famous Solitary Beauty Peak (Duxiu Peak), Jingjiang Princes’ City was designed as a fortified royal residence. The complex was surrounded by strong walls and included palaces, gates, gardens, and traditional buildings reflecting the architectural style of the Ming period.
Throughout its history of more than 600 years, the city experienced several periods of destruction and reconstruction. Today, it remains one of the best-preserved and restored Ming Dynasty princely residences in China.
The former palace area, together with Solitary Beauty Peak, is now part of the Solitary Beauty Peak–Prince City Scenic Area, a popular attraction combining history, culture, and natural scenery.

Solitary Beauty Peak and Panoramic Guilin Views
One of the highlights of visiting Jingjiang Princes’ City is climbing Solitary Beauty Peak, which rises dramatically above the surrounding city. From the summit, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of Guilin’s famous landscape, including the city’s mountains, rivers, and traditional urban scenery.
At the foot of the peak, Peace Cave features carvings of the 60 Chinese zodiac symbols, providing visitors with an interesting connection to traditional Chinese culture.

Exploring the Ancient Palace Complex
Visitors can explore the ancient city walls, historic gates, restored palace buildings, and cultural exhibitions inside the scenic area. The outer walls can be viewed freely, while an entrance ticket is required to enter the inner palace area.
The attraction is conveniently located near Zhengyang Pedestrian Street. Visitors can walk north from the pedestrian street and reach the southern outer gate of Jingjiang Princes’ City. After walking approximately 200 meters, they will arrive at the main entrance.

Why Visit Jingjiang Princes’ City?
Jingjiang Princes’ City is an ideal destination for travelers interested in Chinese imperial history, Ming Dynasty architecture, and Guilin’s cultural heritage. Combined with the natural beauty of Solitary Beauty Peak, the site provides a unique experience where history and landscape come together in the heart of Guilin.
