Day 1: Arrive in Nanjing
Upon your arrival in Nanjing at noon, your tour begins with a visit to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor, founder of the Ming Dynasty. As the first imperial mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is renowned for its grand architecture, the Sacred Way lined with impressive stone statues, and its beautiful natural surroundings.
Later, head to the lively Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao) area, the cultural heart of old Nanjing. Stroll through the bustling streets filled with traditional buildings, local shops, and authentic Nanjing delicacies while enjoying the enchanting evening scenery along the Qinhuai River. For a truly unforgettable experience, you may choose to take an optional boat cruise on the Qinhuai River, where illuminated pavilions and ancient architecture create a magical atmosphere.
Day 2: Nanjing – Zhenjiang
After breakfast, drive to Zhenjiang, a historic city renowned for its Buddhist heritage and beautiful landscapes. Your first stop is Jinshan Temple, one of the most famous temples in the Yangtze River region and the setting of the legendary story of the White Snake. Explore its ancient halls and learn about its rich history and cultural significance.
Then, visit the historic Cishou Pagoda, an iconic landmark that offers wonderful views of the surrounding area.
In the late afternoon, take a ferry to Jiaoshan Island, often praised as the "scholarly mountain" of Zhenjiang. Here, you will visit the renowned Forest of Steles, which houses a remarkable collection of ancient stone inscriptions and calligraphy masterpieces.
Day 3: Zhenjiang – Nanjing
This morning, explore Xijindu Ancient Street, a well-preserved historical district that reflects the prosperity of ancient Zhenjiang. Visit the Zhaoguan Stone Pagoda, Guanyin Cave, and the site of the world's earliest life-saving association, which played an important role in helping travelers and merchants along the Yangtze River.
Afterward, climb to Yuntai Pavilion for a panoramic view of the ancient street and the surrounding cityscape.
