D1 Beijing: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven & Summer Palace
Your Beijing day tour begins with a hotel pickup between 7:00 am and 8:30 am. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved ancient imperial palace complex in the world, with a history spanning more than 500 years.
Enter the Forbidden City and explore its magnificent palaces, courtyards, and historic halls along the central north-south axis. Your visit will take approximately 2 hours, offering a fascinating introduction to the imperial history and architecture of ancient China.
On the way to the Temple of Heaven, enjoy a short visit to learn about traditional Chinese medicine and its cultural heritage. After a brief rest, continue to the Temple of Heaven, the largest existing ancient imperial sacrificial architectural complex in China. In ancient times, emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties came here to pray for good harvests, favorable weather, and peace. Allow approximately 1 hour to explore this remarkable UNESCO-listed site.
Afterward, enjoy a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant for about 40 minutes. Following lunch, make a short stop at a pearl market, where you can learn more about Chinese pearls and browse a variety of pearl products.
Then, drive for approximately 30 minutes to the Summer Palace, one of China’s most celebrated imperial gardens and a masterpiece of traditional Chinese landscape design. Built around Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, the Summer Palace combines beautiful natural scenery with elegant imperial architecture and is often regarded as a living museum of Chinese garden art. Your visit will take approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel, concluding your Beijing sightseeing day.
