Xiaguan in Dali
Xiaguan (下关), also known as Hsiakwan, is often called New Dali. This beautiful town is located at the southern end of Erhai Lake in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. As the modern center of Dali, Xiaguan combines convenient transportation, scenic lakeside views, and a vibrant local atmosphere.
Although Dali Ancient Town is the main attraction that draws millions of visitors every year, it does not have its own bus terminal or major transportation hub. Therefore, travelers arriving from other cities usually need to transfer in Xiaguan, the larger town situated at the southern tip of Erhai Lake. Thanks to its well-developed transport connections, Xiaguan serves as the main gateway and transit hub for exploring Dali, Erhai Lake, and the surrounding areas.
Visitors often pass through Xiaguan on their way to Dali Ancient Town, but the town itself is also worth exploring for its lakeside scenery, local culture, and easy access to nearby attractions.
