Zhangmu Port
Located in the southern foothills of the Himalayas in Tibet Autonomous Region, Zhangmu Town (also known as Nyalam Zhangmu or Zangmu樟木) is a unique border town connecting China and Nepal. Situated about 776 kilometers from Lhasa, Zhangmu lies near the China–Nepal Friendship Bridge and serves as an important gateway between the Tibetan Plateau and South Asia.
With its subtropical climate, lush vegetation, dramatic mountain scenery, and vibrant border atmosphere, Zhangmu offers a completely different landscape from the dry and high-altitude regions commonly associated with Tibet.
Zhangmu: A Gateway Between Tibet and Nepal
Zhangmu is located close to the Nepal border, with the China–Nepal Friendship Bridge only about 10 kilometers away. From here, travelers can continue southward toward Kathmandu, which is approximately 100 kilometers away by road.
