Huangshi Village (Huangshi Zhai) is one of the five major sightseeing routes in Zhangjiajie Scenic Area and one of the most famous viewing platforms in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Hunan Province.
Known as the saying that “those who do not visit Huangshi Village have not truly seen Zhangjiajie,” Huangshi Village offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views of Zhangjiajie’s unique sandstone peak forest landscape.

Legend and History of Huangshi Village
According to legend, Huangshi Village is connected with Zhang Liang, a famous strategist of the Han Dynasty.
After seeing through worldly affairs, Zhang Liang resigned from his official position and traveled around China with his master Huang Shigong.
During his journey in Zhangjiajie, Zhang Liang was surrounded by local soldiers. His master Huang Shigong rescued him, and the area was later named Huangshi Village in memory of this event.
The mountain is also called “Yellow Lion Village” because its overall shape resembles a powerful lion.
