Huguangyan Scenic Area
Located in Mazhang District, about 18 kilometers southwest of downtown Zhanjiang, Huguangyan Scenic Area is one of the most famous Zhanjiang attractions and one of the finest natural destinations in Guangdong Province. Covering 38 square kilometers, including a 13.6-square-kilometer protected core area, the park is internationally renowned for its spectacular volcanic landscape and outstanding geological value. Huguangyan Maar Lake
The highlight of Huguangyan Scenic Area is Huguangyan Maar Lake, a rare volcanic crater lake formed by a powerful volcanic eruption approximately 140,000–160,000 years ago. It is one of only three maar lakes in China and is widely recognized as one of the world’s best-preserved volcanic maar lakes.
