Xining, Tongren & Xiahe Five-day Tour
Xining is located on the eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the upper reaches of Huangshui River. It is the political, economic, scientific and technological, cultural and traffic center of Qinghai Province with an average altitude of over 2,200 meters (about 7,217 feet). The activities of human beings in this region can be traced to 2,100 years ago.
During the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, owing to the development of agriculture, Xining was paid more attention due to its economic and martial significance. As well as being the important hinge between the central plains and the western part of China in ancient time, Xining was the most common passing channel of the famous Silk Road. Until now, it is still the only road by which to enter the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Ta'er Lamasery derives its name from the Golden-roofed Lamasery's silver tower built in memory of Zongkaba,the founder of Huangjiao (the YellowSection). The silver tower is called 'Gunbenxianbalin', inTibetan, meaning "a Maitreya Lamasery where 100000 lions roar at a Buddha Portrait."Ta'er Lamasery is located in the Lianhuashan (Lotus) Mountain Valley in the southwest ofLusha'er Township in Huangzhong County.It is the most important sight-seeing sport of Qinghai and one of the cultural relics under thestate protection.
The Labrang Monastery is located at the foot of the Phoenix Mountain northwest of Xiahe County in Gannan Tibetan Nationality Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province.The architectural layout of the Labrang Monastery belongs to the Tibetan style and the construction patterns are mostly Tibetan, Han's mode and a compound style of both Han's and Tibetan. The symbols of the whole construction are the White Towers both in the northeast and in the northwest. The grand sutra and Buddha halls are located in the northwestern part centered around the Grand Sutra Hall. Other halls spread in a shape similar to a crescent moon.The Labrang Monastery boasts tens of thousands of statues of Buddha made of gold, silver, copper, and aluminum. There are statues with ivory, sandalwood, jade, crystal and clay as the basic materials. These Buddha statues are all lifelike with kind-looking faces, which give you a real enjoyment of beauty. In addition, the monastery possesses many Buddha hats and many Buddhist treasures adorned with pearls, jadeite, agate and diamonds.

D1 Arrival in Taer temple
Today you will arrive at Xining , you will meet your local guide at airport . After a long flight , you may feel tired . So we will directly send you to your hotel , and the hotel is close to Taer Monastery . But we don’t visit Taer monastery today , so you can walk around freely . Have a good rest and a sweet dream !
D2 Taer temple
The second day , you will first visit the Taer temple. Which located at 25 kilometers in the southwest of Xining. It is the Buddhist center of northwest China and covers an area of 450,000 square meters. The temple is one of the biggest Chinese Buddhist temples. It is a famous tourist destination of Qinghai . You have enough time to explore this temple , and you can know more about this temple . Except that , it is a good chance to get more knowledge about Buddhism .
Today you will arrive at Xining , you will meet your local guide at airport . After a long flight , you may feel tired . So we will directly send you to your hotel , and the hotel is close to Taer Monastery . But we don’t visit Taer monastery today , so you can walk around freely . Have a good rest and a sweet dream !
D2 Taer temple
The second day , you will first visit the Taer temple. Which located at 25 kilometers in the southwest of Xining. It is the Buddhist center of northwest China and covers an area of 450,000 square meters. The temple is one of the biggest Chinese Buddhist temples. It is a famous tourist destination of Qinghai . You have enough time to explore this temple , and you can know more about this temple . Except that , it is a good chance to get more knowledge about Buddhism .
After visiting Taer Monastery , we will leave for the Labrang Monastery, Labrang Monastery is about 300 kilometers away from Taer Monastery . So we will drive about 5 hours to get there . You will spend the night in Xiahe county.
D3 Labrang Monastery
In the early morning , your guide will pick you up at your hotel . Then we will go to visit the Labrang Monastery. It is located in Xiahe County, Gansu Province. In its peak period, there were more than 4,000 monks here .In 1980, with the permission of government , it opened to tourists . The temple has totally six sutra halls with wide variety of statues.
After that we will go to Tongren County , and Wutun Monastery is here . It is about 100 kilometers’ driving . And we will spend about 2 hours to get there .
D4 Wutun Monastery
Pick you at the hotel and go to the Wutun Monastery. It is located in Tongren County. It has more than 600 years of history. The temple has a large collection of artworks. With a strong artistic atmosphere, the temple enjoyed a high reputation in the tourism field. The temple has more precious relics than Qinghai’s other temples.
