On May 15, 2025, China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian held a regular press conference. A reporter asked about China's announcement during the fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Latin America Forum that it would try to grant visa-free access to Brazil and five other countries.
In response to this, Lin Jian stated that to further facilitate the exchange between Chinese and foreign nationals, China has decided to expand the scope of visa-free countries. From June 1, 2025, to May 31,2026, ordinary passport holders from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay will be granted a visa-free entry policy. Ordinary passport holders from these five countries can enter China for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchange visits, or transit without a visa, provided their stay does not exceed 30 days.
Lin Jian pointed out that China will adhere to high-level opening up and introduce more measures to continuously improve the convenience of people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries. We also welcome more foreign friends to take advantage of the visa-free entry and visa facilitation policies, visit China more often, see it for yourself, and experience the vibrant and dynamic China.
