Kanasi Integrated Nature Landscape Protect Region is located in Altai mountains of northern Xinjiang. It is at a border town-buerjing territory. Its’ northern neighbor is Kazakhstan and Russia, and east is Mongolia. Kanasi is the only protect region of China which located in the junction of four countries. In this zone, Glacier, snow mountains, forest, thickets, grassland, lakes and rivers formed complete natural ecological system.
The lines start from altay’s front mountain-chongerhu, climb different mountains, pass through huahai which elevation is 1.5km and miles 1km away, ride to hemu country. It’s the first choice of riding travel in spring of kanasi. It goes through the newly discovered stone forest, the altai region’s largest summer pastures, forest, flowers, rivers and canyons.

Itinerary
D1. Wulumu-Kanasi Airport-Jiadengyu ( driving for 1h 50km )
Arrive at Kanasi Airport(CZ6844 20:30), drive to jiadengyu. It is located in 35km southeast of kanasi lake. Jiadengyu is a basin with a length of about 2km and a width of 1.5km. It has abundant aquatic plants, and herdsmen live in here. Jiadengyu is the largest tourist reception area in kanasi. It forms general headquarters with eating, living, visiting, shopping and entertaining.
D2 Jiadengyu - Hemu ( riding for 8h 20km )
Settle from jiadengyu basin, move to north over a ridge (1335m high), you can see balalehan bridge of kasina river valley. The bridge construct with all the original pine. Although in disrepair for long time, it is very firm. After cross the bridge ride to east along the left side of river, you can see the beautiful original birch forest on the way. Ride to an elevation of 1,600km at the junction of hemu river and ka river. Then arrive at hemu country. It is a basin with a length of 3km and a width of 1km. Hemu river flow along the western margin of the basin, the left side of river has pieces of birch forest, and in the eastern margin of the hillside covered with pine forests. In the central of basin, there are many cabins built of logs. Hemu country is Mongolia autonomous Township, half of residents are Mongolia tuwa people, another half people are kazak. Animal husbandry and tourism are their main industry.
D3 Hemu - Black lake
After breakfast, start from hemu and westward into another valley. River valley sometimes is high and steep and narrow, sometimes broad. On the upper of valley, cross a pine covered ridge, the path rises and trees gradually sparse. Go ahead for about 3km, you can see the black lake when arrive to the highest point (2350m) of the trip-daban. The length and width of the lake is about 500m. The water looks like black, but it is clean when you get it out. Around it has large wetlands and mountains with snow. Wetlands has trickle flow into black lake, and then flows into the northern valley’s calakule lake. Here the grass is lush and sky is very clear in the night.
D4 Black lake-Kanasi lake( riding for 4/5h 15km )
From black lake go to west, the valley is open, the terrain drops gradually, and pine forest appear again. After ride about 8km, climb into a ridge (2,200m) to look back, in the wetland of valley lakes is dotted, the distance pine forest as ink, and mountains stand, you will feel fresh. After travel 2km down the beam, you will arrive at kadinggeer herdsman’s living place. And then ride another 3km you will arrive at the kanasi country. The village has about 20 households herdsman, all live in huts. Out of the village along the river valley, go through a period of about 2km of thick pine forest, you will click into place. In the huge valley you can see the watching-fish pavilion. Kanasi lake looks like a crescent, 24km vertical length, 3 to 4km wide. The deepest part of the lake is 188m, it’s the second deepest lake in China. The Mongolian meaning of kanasi is beautiful and mysterious. As the season and weather is different, the lake will show different colors.
D5 Kanasi to Kanasi Airport ( driving for 2h 80km )
Visit kanasi valley, you can appreciate mountains, plateau, flowers, and call on herdsman’s home, you will feel the harmony between man and nature. Return to kanasi airport after lunch.
