Travel in Mt Kailash could be the hardest trip in the world, strong health condition is required. According to Hindu epics, Mt Meru is the center of the earth, which is believed to be what today Mt Kailash is. This 6714m high peak of Western Tibet has long been a holy object of worship for four
major religions; Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bons. Lake Manasarovara is the most venerated of the Tibet’s lakes. According to Hindu mythology, it was formed in the mind of Brahma-the creator of the world for his sons to bathe after having performed austerities. Indian pilgrims get purified by taking a dip in the holy water.
In this trip, we will take you to the remotest west Tibet with few human being trails. It is normal to see wild animals running out of your window. Unexpected discover will be found everywhere in your trip. It is a challenge never should miss.
Itinerary:
D1 Arrive in Lhasa
Arrive in Lhasa by flights or train, then free to be acclimated in the afternoon. Night in hotel.
D2_3 Lhasa City tour .
We will use two days to be acclimated before we start our expedition. The Potala Palace, Barkor street, Jorkang temple, Sera Monastery, Zebang Monastery, all can be interesting sites.
D4 Lhasa / Gyantse / Shigatse Driving 300kms
Drive to Gyantse via Yamdok Lake, which can be seen from Kanbala Pass (4794m) .It is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and an important destination for pilgrimage. In Gyantze we will visit beautiful Palkhor Monastery, in the late afternoon continue to drive 90km to Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet.
D5 Shigatse / Sangsang Driving 330 Km
All the day driving 330km to sangsang. We will drive to Lhatze firstly, and then to Sakya, where you can enjoy the Sakya Monastery, and then continue to Sangsang. It is some rough road, 8 hours’ drive, live in Guesthouse;
D6 Sangsang /22nd Daoban/ Tsuochen driving 365km
All the day head for Tuochen. It is about 7 hours’ drive, after 22nd Daoban ,drive to the north, rough road. Enjoy the wide Tibetan Plateu lake, wild yaks and other animals along the way; live in guesthouse;
D7 Tsuochen / Tongtsuo / Gaitze 311 km
Continue the overland expedition in west Tibetan plateau. Enjoy the grassland, wild animal en route. About 8 hours’ driving, all rough road till Gaitze, live in guesthouse;
D8 Gaitze / Geji / Gar 420km
Continue a long drive day ,rough road, about 10 hours. Arrive in the largest town of west Tibet, Gar in the late afternoon. live in guesthouse;
D9 Gar / Namujia / Dradha 280km,
It is most are rough road. 8-9 hours, live in Dradha guesthouse;
D10 Guge Kingdom Exploration
Drive to Guge Relic. Guge kingdom used to be prosperous Buddhism sacred place in mid century, and then visit Tuolin Monastery, live in Drada Monastery;
D11 Dredha / Mentu / Baga driving 280km
Rough road, live in guesthouse. Prepare for the trekking.
D12 Mt Kailash / Manasarovour Driving 55kms
After about 10 days’ acclimation in Tibet, our body may be suitable for Tibetan plateau. We will start the most exiting Mt Kailash tour today. We will make a sincere pilgrim in this sacred mountain, and in the afternoon head for the Manasarovour lake. If you like, we can also provide a few days’ trekking around the mountain.
D13 Manasarovour / Payang Driving Driving 300 kms
It will be very enjoyable to do sightseeing in this sacred lake. After visiting pure Lake Manasarovour and Lake La’angla Tso ,drive to Payang, live in the guesthouse, 8 hours’ driving ,rough road.
D14 Payang /Saga, driving 245km
All the day drive to Saga. Enjoy the landscape en route. It is rough road, about 6-7 hours’ driving. Live in guesthouse;
D15 Sage / Shigatse driving 470km
All the day drive from Saga to Shigatse via 22nd Daoban, Latze, Shetongmen (pengtsolin Monastery). 10-11 hours. Live in Shigatse;
D16 Shigatse/Lhasa 240kms
The most difficult part has been completed, we will drive back Lhasa along Yulutsangpu River with pleasant mood. Free in the afternoon.
