Dear Yolanda, Finally I’m answering your kind message below, after a looooong delay. After almost one month and half China is still in our minds. The journey was so successful that we are talking all around us about this wonderful country and of course your important role in this success. In a nutshell, we preferred the central and western China (from Chengdu to Kasghar, including Tibet and Xi’an) to the eastern big cities. Definitely, when the cities are ‘small’ the warmness and kindness of people are higher than in the ‘big’ eastern cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong. The services were much more customized to the size of our small group of 5 in central and western China than in eastern China where our group was considered and treated as much bigger (20 to 50) tourist (Chinese or foreign) groups, especially in the restaurants. In central and western China, the restaurants were relatively small and typical compared to the huge mass tourism dedicated restaurants of the east coast. We were very happy to be on the Chinese Victoria Cruises instead of the American Victoria Cruises! In a newly visited country, the contacts with the local population is what we were looking instead to be confined with other tourists like us. Concerning the guides, except few (see below), they were good but their knowledge of the French was very different from one region to the other. Few of them were acting as escort girls/boys instead of real guides explaining in detail the visited monument, museum or region. 4 would be the overall note for our Chinese trip with a special mention for the excellence of the organization. We’ll certainly recommend China Exploration to our friends wishing to discover China. With my warmest regards,
Robert |
